1) New pot of 3rd period cattle (meaning they are going to calve pretty soon) approx 44 arrived last night on the farm - bringing our calving total to 174. The ladies are on track to start calving in Feb. Tick Tock...Whoot Whoot!
2) Wade is reading Lonesome Dove for the 2nd time.
3) I am reading a book called "The Lady Who Rode Bucking Horses - The story of Fannie Sperry Steele." Its been on my radar thanks to Jessy from over at WestEastern So far an excellent read!
4) Gus has doubled in weight and size - he is now officially potty trained. My floors thank me.
5) Wade started a new job at a local feed co-op - pretty gosh darn exciting! Which means Wade quit the sale barn as of right now. He may be called in for special sales but either way it's a steady job!!!!

8) While I have been watching what I eat - LOL I watch myself eat all the goodies...but seriously I'm trying really hard! But I know by New Years Eve I will be in a cream cheese coma and I am ok with that. After all tomorrow is another day!!!

ReplyDelete2) Big Lonesome Dove and Larry McMurtry fan! J, my Sister and I have all read the Lonesome Dove series. Check out my blog post from yesterday for Lonesome Dove stuff and links.
3) I will be looking up this book recommendation.
4) Having my carpets cleaned next week as J's cow dog puppy opened the sliding door and had a party in our house. Boston Terrier was an accomplice. They ate my chocolate stash and went crazy.
5) Congrats to Wade on the new job!
6) Thinking and plotting my Christmas Goodies and Baking.
9) Google Cuddle Duds! They are great.
A book I think you would enjoy, if you haven't already read it, is called "The Diary of a Farmer's Wife" By Anne Hughes. It is a real diary of a woman from Englad who wrote almost every day for a year about her and her husabands life on their farm. It takes palce in 1796-1797. I found out about it from Liz's blog The Buckaroo Barbie and I have loved reading it so far. It's a little hard to get use to the old english at first but it is truly interesting to hear their day to day experiences.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you that Wade got a job at the feed store! Maybe now you'll have a few less pairs of crap-crusted jeans to deal with! Can't wait until you guys start having baby calves, you'll have to keep us up to date with pictures. I'm super excited for Christmas this year too - this weekend the holiday baking/candy making begins!
ReplyDeleteThis post is BURSTING with the warm&fuzzies, Elizabeth! Enjoy your book - it's a really fun one and it's pretty incredible how much labor and research went into it!
ReplyDeleteHere's to watching what we eat (I'm trying, too) and keeping those Christmas secrets - two of the hardest parts of the season!
Congrats on Wade's new job. That's awesome. Maybe some discounts in the future? :)
