Gus and I with the ladies...
The first day of 2013 was cold. Wade and I had the day off. First thing we did was sleep in. Later that morning we walked in the winter wonderland together. We went out and worked together in the snow. One of our projects has been tearing down an old hog shed and moving scrap metal. We also put together some calving pens - the ladies on the farm will be due to calve in Feb - Heaven Help US!
Wade and I in front of the stacked up hay -
it's stacked in such a way that it makes a great windbreak for our little house.
Later we came into the house - chilly and tired. I plugged in our heater and turned up the furnace. Wade settled into his chair and read a book. I took to the couch with a magazine. After a while I commented that the room wasn't warming up. We played with the thermostat - nothing happened. We frantically called relatives - anyone who had a propane furnace to ask questions In the end it appears the problem is with the pilot and it fails to ignite. We called our landlord and he brought us a couple of heaters to ward of the cold and hopefully keep our pipes from freezing. It's a balmy 15 degrees with a light breeze. We plugged two of them in the living room, and you know what? We flipped a breaker! HA!!! Such is life. We will get it fixed tomorrow.
Some heavy ladies...

Oh Happy New Year good luck with the heater and the calving. We have been lucky enough to have 20 new calves born healthy and they seem to love the snow and I so enjoy watching them skip about exploring there new world. Only ten more to go. It is cold here too.

Great pictures! Hope you get the heat figured out soon, I would not be a happy camper in a house that cold!
